Martes, Junio 29th, 2010

Seniors at Radio

Martes, Junio 29th, 2010

Last April 21st Macarena Matar and Antonio Menchaca (12th Grade) had an unusual and exciting experience: suddenly they found themselves in the middle of a radio studio, chatting live online with a group of American students from Rock Canyon High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.

Why? They had been invited to participate in the program Cachando Chile on the Air, hosted by Margaret Snook and Felipe Valdivia. This is a weekly 2-hour internet radio program in English that is presently carrying out a project whose aim is to create links between American and Chilean teenagers. In the program the students share views, interests, and lifestyles communicating in English in a very friendly way.

“It was great, we had lots of fun. At first I was nervous, but then the conversation flowed easily. I was impressed about how little they knew about our country.” Macarena Matar

“At the beginning we didn’t know what to expect, but people at the radio station were really kind and the conversation with the American students turned out to be really spontaneous and fun.” Antonio Menchaca

Visit www.santiagoradio.cl on Wednesdays from 6:00-8:00 pm to listen to and watch the program and www.cachandochile.wordpress.com, a blog where you will find very interesting and fun articles on Chilean life and culture.
